Elsa’s Kopje Camp: Meru National Park, Kenya
Elsa’s Kopje
The often-overlooked Meru National Park was made famous in the 1960s as the location where Joy and George Adamson released their lion Elsa back into the wild. Following this, the park was underutilized over the years and there was even a threat that it would change into commercial farming land. The establishment of Elsa’s Kopje played a pivotal role in revitalizing and therefore protecting this unique national park. This romantic location has unique rooms crafted around rock, with entire walls made up of the exposed side of massive boulders, and each with a fantastic view. There are six ensuite cottages, a family cottage, three honeymoon suites, and a private house with its own pool. For guests who are not in the private house, a beautiful pool overlooking the vast, wild Meru National Park below makes for an excellent afternoon activity.
