Tanzania

From the heights of Mount Kilimanjaro to the plunging depths of Lake Tanganyika, the humid breeze of the coast to crisp mornings on the Serengeti, Tanzania contains multitudes.

As the largest country in East Africa, Tanzania offers you a broad range of exquisite destinations. The most common entry point for tourists visiting the Northern Safari Circuit is Kilimanjaro International Airport, which is located between Arusha and Moshi. Julius Nyerere International Airport is located in Dar es Salaam, the largest city, and is the best access point for the Southern Safari Circuit. For those of you starting your Tanzanian adventure on the islands of Zanzibar, Abeid Amani Karume International Airport is the best option. All three of these airports have regular flights from most major cities in Europe and North America.

Tanzania’s most famous safari destination is the Serengeti, divided from Kenya’s Masai Mara only by the national border and making up the majority of their shared ecosystem. Its 5,700 square miles of expansive savanna includes breathtaking landscapes and some of the most impressive wildlife in Africa.

Mount Kilimanjaro, one of the most iconic mountains in the world, is an impressive presence in the northern Tanzania landscape. Whether you're climbing it or enjoying its immensity from a distance, the mountain is an essential part of the Tanzanian experience.

Off the coast of Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar is famous the world over for its beautiful beaches and historic Stone Town. Named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000, you can walk its narrow alleys and walkways, taking in the aromas of its famous spices, the beauty of its Swahili architecture, and the sound of the call to prayer from nearby mosques.

Tanzania’s climate, just south of the equator and bordering the Indian Ocean, is quite moderate, with temperatures ranging from the upper 60s to upper 80s F. It is warmer between December and March and cooler in June and July, with the rainy season generally taking place from March to May and October through November.
