Forests
A cacophony of sounds is your companion as you walk through an African indigenous forest. Full of life, both plant and animal, it seems as if everything has burst into existence. Birds, monkeys, insects, baboons – some nearby, others far away – make their presence known. A butterfly floats by and, while you try to follow its path, it suddenly disappears, camouflaging itself into a nearby plant. These unique ecosystems are often valued for their potential resources, destroyed for short-term gain only for us to realize later that the forest itself (growing, thriving, hosting life) offers benefits just as important, if less tangible or immediate.
